Rockingham Woods; Katherine in Late October

"Rockingham Woods; Katherine in Late October"

She's lost track of time. She's been walking around a long-empty campground for maybe four hours. Or maybe ten minutes. The sun's getting lower, but at this time of year it gets dark early. She's probably walked by this spot before, but this time she sees the little stone cabin hidden behind a thick hedge, abandoned even longer than the campground. The door's open a few inches, so she slips inside and walks the dusty floorboards. She sits down on the floor and pulls out her drawing book, letting the lines flow out of her Black Warrior and onto the page. The light fades but she doesn't stop sketching, the only sound in the cabin the scratching of pencil on paper.
