"Into the Green (Kate Paint)"
You invite me out with you and your friends, for one of my expeditions. I explain my process. First I check the paint. Any time I venture out for inspiration I blend into whatever wall color somebody picked for this particular trendy bar/cafe/coffeeshop/whatever. I think I do a better job at a Van Deusen Blue or a Sage Wisdom than at something like an Audubon Russet, but the principle's basically the same. You put your head into that color and let yourself disappear. It works well enough.
A story's being exchanged in the eye contact between your sister and her lover, but I'm new here and nobody's telling me what the story is about. And who tells stories to wall paint anyway? So I just sit back and watch the looks and write down the stories I see, while trying to not be obvious, as another glass of wine passes my unspeaking lips.
Some nights (like tonight) I'll just use any old words. It matters less exactly what they say and more the music that happens when you sing them together. I've become so Narragansett Green that you almost accidentally sit on me.
